Elspeth McInnes

Associate Professor Elspeth McInnes AM BA Hons1 PhD of Education Futures Unit, University of South Australia is a researcher of sociology in education with applied interests in early childhood and education contexts regarding trauma informed practice, developing wellbeing cultures, culturally responsive and inclusive approaches to care and education, child protection and supporting family safety, social policy and family wellbeing.

Recent research projects have engaged with educator professional learning in supporting children's social and emotional development and wellbeing in primary school and early childhood services, parents' experiences of services responding to children's harmful sexual behaviours and professional learning for educators, as well as artificial intelligence tools identifying child sexual abuse.

A/Prof McInnes engages extensively with the community sector in relation to family and domestic violence, child abuse, poverty and social policy responses to these issues.
